“Stories” - Mr. Woodnote

Some of you might recognize Mr. Woodnote’s name from UK’s Dub FX videos and music. The combination of beat-box with sax melody results in something seriously sexy. Check it out.. be patient though, it’s a bit long but you will be rewarded in the end. Cheeers!

“Muy Tranquilo” - Gramatik

Just a relaxing track for a snowy afternoon. His production is mostly sample-based but he plays live instruments over the beat to keep things interesting.

“Cloudlight” - Eskmo

Experimental and sexy…the way dubstep should always be.

“And The Camera” - Paper Tiger ft. Dessa

Paper Tiger was one of the original members of hip-hop collective Doomtree. Since then though, like P.O.S and others, he has branched out, embracing an independent career in production.

This is off the album Made Like Us….featuring Dessa’s ethereal voice on a bunch of his tracks, Paper Tiger’s beats are sultry, progressive and just awesome. This tune in particular is more downtempo than the rest of his stuff but enjoy !

“Je Veux” - Zaz

She’s so effortlessly awesome :)

“Flying By The Sun” - Ratcliffe

Dorus Rijkers EP (2011)

This song comes from an album released this past July. Mad progressive and acidic, just be patient with the track. Reminds me of the band Lotus if you’re familiar.

Recall Basement Jaxx? This is Simon Ratcliffe’s (of Basement Jaxx) solo project.

“What My Last Girl Put Me Through” - Nicolas Jaar

I saw Nico in Paris a few weeks ago where he put on an incrreeeddible concert. Live instrument production with drums, keys, a saxophonist and Nico himself behind the table.

Good looking boy with great talent.

It’s been a rough few months but I’m back to blogging.

This vid is a goody… Charles Bradley reminds me of Sharon Jones in the soul revival sense. Both are signed to the Daptone label, where the Dap Kings reside and play a lovely horn section.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the tune.

I’d love to see this eventually sampled for a hip hop beat.

“(Have You Ever Been To) Electric Ladyland” - Jimi Hendrix

I haven’t posted in ages, and I thought I’d break that with this tune. It really suits the never-ending winter that well characterizes Montreal right now.

This isn’t the original tune, but rather an audio studio outtake. Very peaceful…and also very short.

interesting blog..and taste in music. I'm going to ask a few things :) where are you from? Who's your favorite hip-hop indy artist? Will you share them with me so I can share them with the world @ heavenhi.tumblr.com?

Heyyyo, thanks! :)  Where I’m from? Originally born in Latvia. My favorite indie hip hop artist? That’s tough… but at the moment, MF Doom, Blackalicious & the Digable Planets.. I think.
